The next Wolfgang Puck...

Picture this... I am at work, working very hard of course when my phone rings. I pick it up and hear "So whatcha making for dinner?" Immediately I knew it was my niece, Gwen. I laughed and explained to her that her Uncle Meem was going out with the guys and that I did not have plans for dinner. We both agreed that after I got off work I would pick her up and we could hang out at my house. When I picked her up I asked her where she wanted to go to eat. She looked at me with a crazy face and told me she wanted to make something for dinner. Make something??? like what... Spaghetti? Nope, she said. Tacos? nope. Nachos? nope. Pizza? YEAH!!! So we went to the grocery store and looked for things to put on our pizza. We got dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesean cheese, mushroom, artichoke hearts, pepperoni, olives and one more thing. Gwen wanted to try her pizza with beef jerky so she got a Slim Jim. When we got home we turned on Radio Disney and danced around while we made our pizza. We even danced to the Cha Cha Slide. After those were done we made chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!!! I was way past my points for the day but we had a lot of fun. After our cooking extravaganza, we went outside and made a hop scotch with side walk chalk. I can not remember that last time I played hop scotched.

Through the Years

Today is our Parent's 28th wedding anniversary and these days that is a big accomplishment in itself. In 28 years they have accomplished so much. They have raised 3 wonderful, smart, brillant, creative, well-rounded (ok maybe that's a little to much) kids. They bought their first home together and then their 2nd house in Texas. They have traveled with and without us. They would take us on family vacations to show us how things are different in other states and what those states look like. If we wanted to do or not. They encouraged us to be who we were and at the same time encouraged us to be who we wanted to be. Our Parents made sure we were involved in outside activities like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, soccer, softball, Awana's, baton, band, youth group and many other activities. They allowed us to have pets like dogs, fish, cats, hamsters and more hamster. They showed us the importance of having friends, making time for those friends and knowing that friendships have their ups and downs just like and other relationship. They also made special time for each kids (of course I was the favorite... hehe). I can remember going to Micheal on Saturday mornings with just my Mom to make craft. Or going to Taco Bell after going to the fabric store to have a mexican pizza. I remember my Dad taking me to father-daughter dances where we would dress up and he taught me "the stroll" at the 50's dance. Or the time he took me to the Sycamore Inn, just him and me and my shrimp flew off my plate when I went to cut it. During the last 28 years they focused a lot on us Kids but some how made time to focus on themselves as a Husband and Wife as well. They have shown us that being married is more than just the ceremony and reception. It more than the kids, the dogs and the white picketed fence. Being married is a commitment that both a Husband and a Wife have to work on together to keep their relationship strong and keep the love for each other everlasting. So, Happy 28th Anniversary to Our Parents and here is to many many more!!!

I LOVE the Fair!!!

Jim and I went on a double date with his parents to the LA COUNTY fair on Friday which was opening day. It was dollar day from 11am-5pm and as you can imgine everyone was there. It took us an hour just to get into the parking lot. The weather was so hot that we probably drank 5 large cups each. I had King Taco, which is awesome. We also had curly fried which overflowed a large plate and we had to stop for the cinnamon rolls. which we got to go. So we ate through the fair. We met up with Jr, jennifer, and the kids to hang out for a little while. Chris wanted to show me the train exhibit and show me where the had WALL-E hidden in the exhibit. It was a fun time and I cant wait to go back... maybe on a cooler day.

New Edition to the Family...

Jim's Cousin had their first baby boy on Tuesday, September 2. Jim, Me and Ruth (Jim's Mom) went to visit the happy family on the 3rd. His name is Allister Jacob and he was adorable. So tiny at about 7 lbs and 18 inches long.

Chris' 5th Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Chris 5th birthday. His theme was Super Mario Brothers and his Mom and Grandma did a good job with all the decorations and cake to make that theme happen. Jim and I got Chris the Nintendo DS game that he wanted and has stated that he LOVES his game!!! Johnny, Rachel and their 3 girls were down and as always we had fun to hang out with them. Yummy...Yummy...Yummy!!!

While my Brother was here visiting he gave me a gift from Becky. It's a book called Block Parties and Poker Nights and in the note from Becky she challeneged me to throw a party as intructed in the book. Challenge excepted! I have always want to be able to throw a great parties and be an ultimate hostess. Since we live in a new community our neighbors, Jim and I always talk about having block parties too. So this book was perfect.
On Thursday night Jim's Cousin and family were going to spend the night. It was not a happy occasion since the reason they were in town was for a funeral. I knew Friday was going to be busy so I thought it would be good to make sure that they alteast had a good breakfast and a cup of coffee before the day began. So I looked through the receipe book and found an Egg and Sausage Casserole. I have never made an actual casserole before so I thought it would be fun to try it out. After I got the casserole prepared for the next morning I found out that plans had changed and Jim family would not be staying at the house on Thursday night. I was a bit disappointed but it was understandable. On Friday morning I got up at 6am as I planned and cooked the casserole anyways. Jim and I had a piece and we took the rest down to his Parent's house to eat and guess what??? It was a hit!!! woohoo!!! Jim parents loved it and told everyone at Chris' 5th birthday party about the casserole that I made. Now people are requesting the receipe, I am sooo excited. I can't wait to make more reciepes. I might just be the next Rachel Ray. hehehe...
